Stop The Count!

When we were told to “STOP THE COUNT!” in 2020, I couldn’t help but wonder what poor Count Basie would have been thinking. He didn’t do anything wrong!

This piece is dedicated to Count Basie and His Orchestra and the Kansas City Suite by Benny Carter. There is nothing flashy or technical here, just a solid, swinging chart designed for bands, listeners, and dancers to enjoy.

– Trumpet 2: up to B5
– Trombone 1: up to A4

Grade: 3.5 (Medium/Medium-difficult)
The higher grade is due to the lead trumpet range. Solos are not notated, rhythm section is mostly slash notation.
